I Savor The Pain You Cause Me - Sunsong

There’s a blue light on the hills
A cold wind is coming down from the north
The river is rising
The moon is full
Cats are crying outside and in
Crying to get in
Crying to get out
Or crying to hear the sound in their ears that matches the one ripping their hearts

There’s not much light left now
Just slippery, slivery hints of an incredible fire
That resides at a necessary distance
To give us water and vapor and ice

How much light do we need anyway?
All cats are grey in the dark
In the darkest hour of the night
The stars shine with the greatest clarity
The lights on the bridge, too
And the cars and trucks screaming:
Look out!
Man-eating machine headed in your direction at supernatural speed
Or, get out of my way, man
I’ve got somewhere to be
And it’s not here
It’s so not here
